NEXT MEETING:
We had a very nice day at Hanofee Park, as usual! The adults discussed Zoom Flume and possible Camping scenarios. The kids played baseball. We had a newcomer - welcome Carol and crew! We also had two very nice 4 legged friends - Sydney and little LOUD Bean! Well, that wraps up our monthly meeting schedule until September 11th, 2008, the second Thursday in September. That is the anniversary of 9-11 so we may need to discuss the date if it is a problem for anyone.

Hi everyone!

It's a long haul for some of you, but the kids and I went to the
Kingston library this morning to check out their summer chess club.
It meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10-11:30 until the middle of
August. We will be going again tomorrow, if anyone would like to meet
up with us there, the club is free and chess sets are provided. We
won't be able to make it next week, but the week after that looks
promising too.

See you soon,
Cheryl

Support local kid's theater and fellow homeschoolers. There are a couple of homeschoolers that are part of this show. The king who loses his funny bone is Karl! Sana is in the band. Every time I peak in the show looks like it's coming along great! It's a musical comedy. Hope to see you there!

Hello, Everyone!
One of our homeschooled students, Sarathi Hansen, is a budding video game designer at the age of 14. He has designed a game which can be found here: http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/34805

The more you play the game, the better chance Sarathi has at winning $1,000. Everyone give it a whirl and email your critique of the game. The only way someone's critique will help him win the money is if they register as a user on the yoyogames website. If they do not want to do that, they can send their comments to sarathijhansen@yahoo.com

I have recently come across a source of freshly picked in Florida from trees where they are left till they are ripe and delivered to us immediately, oranges and grapefruits. I spoke with them and asked if they wanted to expand their business and whether I could let our homeschoolers group know of this. They said yes. So here is the info. Once a month they deliver to the 7th Day Adventist church in Middletown so you must pick them up on either the Sunday or Monday that they are delivered. For February you must order by the 17th and pick up is 24th and 25th. They will have boxes of Temples, murcots and grapefruit. The prices vary according to the type of fruit and I do not know what they are for Feb. Last month we got fantastically juicy and delicious honey bells for $40 a box and very sweet and juicy grapefruit for $26 per box of 40. Navels', when they are available, are $26 per box. I did not count the oranges but there were definitely more than 40. Honey bells are the most expensive. You can order 1/2 and 1/4 boxes also. I haven't tasted real fresh tree ripened fruit for a long time. To order or for more info. call (845) 692-5558 If no one answers, leave a message and they will get back to you. Enjoy!
